Heading to RIBA Awards ceremony this evening where two of our projects are shortlisted for a London award.
Our first project transforms an 80 sqm former mews style artist studio into a 140 sqm house, by adding a full basement and a partial roof extension. Situated in Kensington and Chelsea, the project started as a property development, but during the process the owners loved it so much they decided to make it their own house.
With no windows at the ground floor and open to the sky at the top, exploring natural light became the main theme of the project.
Designed around Feng Shui principles, the house became an atmospheric journey from the secluded basement to the vibrant first floor, organised around contrasts as dark-light, calm-vibrant, cold-warm or intimate-exposed.

The project is a sensitive intervention, using salvaged bricks stained to match the existing loft and up-cycled garden pavers. Together with an ASHP and PV panels, they boost the property’s environmental credentials.
For a strong inside-outside connection, each window frames a different part of the garden - a large tree, a green roof, a planter, and a patio.
The interior is functional, warm, airy and connected to the garden.
